The Obstetrical Department of our hospital, integrating medical treatment, teaching and scientific research, is a key discipline of Hangzhou and a standard training base for resident physicians. It provides systematic perinatal health care, monitoring and management of high-risk pregnant women, diagnosis and treatment of critical diseases of pregnant and lying-in women, management of dystrophy during pregnancy and diagnosis, treatment and management of physiological pregnancy & normal labor, pathologic pregnancy and dystocia, covering general maternal-fetal medicine. As a municipal hospital that has the largest delivery quantity in Hangzhou and a specialized hospital that ranks 3^rd in the entire province by delivery quantity, the department boasts a medical team of obstetrics who are featured by standard diagnosis and treatment, superb skills and rapid response and advanced and convenient hardware and facilities; equipped with Hangzhou Critical Maternal Rescue and Coordination Panel, it has strong ability in diagnosis and treatment of critical and severe obstetric diseases as well as are greatly technically supported; As the Hangzhou Prenatal Diagnosis Center, the department, having a powerful fetal medicine diagnosis and treatment team and complete facilities as well as strong ability in diagnosis and treatment of fetal diseases, is responsible for most prenatal screening and diagnostic work in Hangzhou; it is also the only specialized hospital in the province that has passed JCI Accreditation by virtue of our leading service concept to ensure medical safety while providing personalized human services. LDR outpatient ward, LDRP room, water delivery, free labor position, full-scale labor analgesia and fetal monitoring and remote monitoring, maternal - child room and breastfeeding consulting and other services are provided here.

The department has a capable medical team (of which over 20 hold the senior title) with obstetric experts as the core, providing safe and effective medical treatment and warm and comfortable humanistic service. It currently comprises of four general obstetrical wards (No.1 Obstetrics Ward, No.2 Obstetrics Ward, No.3 Obstetrics Ward and No.4 Obstetrics Ward), LDR Ward, Delivery Room and Outpatient/Emergency Section of Obstetrics Department and sets up First Visit for Resignation, Return Visit for Obstetrics, Clinic, Expert Clinic and Specialist Clinic for High-risk Obstetrical Diseases, LDR Clinic, LDR Postpartum Visit, Multidisciplinary Clinic for Prenatal Diagnosis, Midwife Clinic and Breastfeeding Counseling Clinic. With also supporting facilities such as Nutrition Clinic, Reproductive Clinic, Clinic for Genetic Counseling and Postpartum Rehabilitation Clinic, it has an annual delivery/labor of over 13,000 babies and a higher rate of spontaneous delivery.

(I) JCI Standard –based maternal pain management techniques. Develop the patient pain management policy to alleviate patient suffering and promote multiple safe and effective pain interventions.

(II) New feasible midwifery technology application: water birth. Our hospital is the first public hospital in the province to apply advanced Danish professional water birth equipment for water birth. Water birth accelerates process of delivery, effectively relieves pain, reduces laceration of perineum and pelvic floor damage, and improves delivery quality.

(III) New feasible midwifery technology application: Free position for labor/delivery. Our hospital allows for free positions, including free positions awaiting delivery and free positions for delivery, improving maternal comfort during childbirth, shortening the delivery process, promoting spontaneous delivery, and increasing the rate of natural delivery. The number of cases carried out in our department is the largest in China.

(IV) Network-based management of high-risk pregnant women, and standard and personalized diagnosis and treatment of pathological pregnancy of various diseases.

(V) Perinatal nutrition and metabolic disease management. Hangzhou Perinatal Nutrition Center of our hospital has implemented many projects such as development of personalized nutrition recipes, comprehensive nutrition assessment, and whole-process intervention of maternal nutrition for weight control. It boasts quite rich experience in nutrition and health care consulting and guidance during pregnancy and deals with nearly 10,000 cases involving application of nutritional intervention in metabolic diseases during pregnancy every year.

(VI) Developed prenatal screening and diagnostic technology. We are equipped with skilled expert team in fetal medicine and genetic counseling as well as sophisticated testing technology and equipment.

(VII) Premature delivery prediction and standard diagnosis and treatment. It carries out premature delivery diagnosis and treatment techniques such as ultrasound cervical length measurement, fetal fibronectin test, cervical cerclage, etc., and has a professional NICU team with strong power and leading-edge equipment to protect high-risk neonates and premature infants.

Medical purpose of the Obstetrics Department: Accurate and appropriate midwifery technology to ensure a safe and comfortable delivery process and promote natural delivery. Internet +-based full-course health care service during pregnancy, high-risk pregnancy follow-up visit system, and stratified hierarchical network-based management of high-risk pregnancy to timely discover high-risk pregnancy and provide whole-process monitoring and reasonable treatment, thus comprehensively protecting the perinatal maternal and child safety and escorting their health in the city.

Scientific research ability of the Obstetrics Department: As one of the main undertakers of the Development Center for Medical Science and Technology Project of National Health and Family Planning Commission of China, it has presided over or completed a number of major scientific research projects of the provincial/ministerial and departmental/bureau level, and published over 30 articles included in SCI and in national first-level journals and core journals in the past three years.
