The Pharmacy of the hospital is in charge of pharmaceutical technical work such as drug supply, drug dispensing, monitoring of adverse drug reaction, clinical pharmacy and drug consultation and at the same time, undertakes the pharmaceutical theory and intern’s teaching work of medical colleges. It is a department in the hospital integrating clinical practice, teaching and scientific research and has such 5 divisions as Central Pharmacy, Emergency Pharmacy, PIVAS, Drug Storage and Clinical Pharmacy Room.

The Pharmacy also has a Clinic for Medication Counseling and presently boasts 26 pharmacists including 1 chief pharmacist, 2 associate chief pharmacists and 7 pharmacists-in-charge. It is equipped with Rowa automatic dispensing machine and YUYAMA automatic packaging machine.

The Pharmacy, under the leadership of head of the department, sticks to the new pharmaceutical service concept of “all-round and high-quality pharmaceutical services centered on patients and clinical needs” as well as the tenet of providing “safe, effective, applicable and affordable” pharmaceutical services for all patients, actively facilitates the clinical practices by pharmacists and provides the following pharmaceutical services by focusing on the foregoing:

 Medication reconciliation: Inquiring about the history of medication and history of allergies of patients admitted to the hospital, providing medication advice for patients and maintaining continuity and consistency of treatment; k interpretation of drug sensitivity test report and selection of antibacterial drugs; l pharmacy rounds: monitoring the medication efficacy and adverse reactions of inpatients and ensuring the rational medication by patients; m special medication testing; n pharmaceutical consultation and difficult case discussion as well as medical staff cross-team cooperation; o information support: accepting consultation from medical staff, nursing staff and patients and providing them with drug information; p evaluation and monitoring on medication by cancer patients. In order to clear the doubts of medication during pregnancy and lactation, the Pharmacy has specially opened a Clinic for Medication Counseling for solving problems relating to risk of medication during pregnancy and lactation, medication for common diseases and the impact and risk of medication during pregnancy on the fetus. The clinic is the first counseling clinic in Hangzhou featuring medication during pregnancy and has been well received by patients since its establishment.
