Prenatal Diagnosis Center is a characteristic department priding itself on prenatal screening, prenatal diagnosis, diagnosis and counseling of genetic disease and eugenics counseling, and an affiliated department of prenatal diagnosis - the secondary key discipline of Hangzhou. Covering an area of almost 1,800 square meters, 600 square meters for outpatient and office complex building and 1,200 square meters for laboratories, the center boasts domestic leading-edge instrument and equipment and an experienced prenatal diagnosis team. Currently, it is home to 20 staff members, including 5 senior tile holders and 7 middle title holders as well as 3 doctors and 4 postgraduates. With outpatient clinic, blood sampling, amniocentesis, reporting center and B ultrasound examination all located in the same area, one-stop service is provided in the department. In this way, most links for pregnant women to get medical treatment such as payment, doctors' office visiting, examination and blood drawing can be completed at the outpatient clinic of the Prenatal Diagnosis Center, both avoiding much traveling of pregnant women and saving their time in waiting in line, thus greatly improving the convenience of patients. The center not only opens Specialist Clinic for Genetic Counseling, Expert Clinic for Genetic Counseling, VIP Clinic for Fetal Medicine, Multidisciplinary Clinic for Fetal Medicine, Expert Clinic for Prenatal Diagnosis, Clinic for Prenatal Screening at First & Second Trimester, Perinatal Health Care Clinic and other characteristic clinics, but also carries out such treatment as chorionic villus sampling (CVS), amniocentesis, cordocentesis, in utero perfusion for oligoamnios and such examination items as fetal MRI, fetal echocardiography, consultation ultrasound and system ultrasound. Furthermore, multidisciplinary consultations are conducted for difficult cases to improve the accuracy of prenatal diagnosis.

System, Quantitative PCR, Luminex® 100/200™, TriNEST™ Microplate Incubator Shaker, NanoDrop 2000, GSL-120 Automatic Chromosome Scanning System and Terminal, Cytovision Chromosome Analysis System, Fluorescence Microscope, Automatic Time-Resolved Fluorescence Detection System, Fully Automated Chromosome Harvester and Dropping System. Serological screening at the first & second trimester, chromosome karyotyping of villus, amniotic fluid, cord blood and peripheral blood, BAC-on-Beads rapid diagnosis of chromosome aneuploidies, prenatal screening and diagnosis of free fetal DNA in maternal peripheral blood, gene mutation screening and diagnosis for common deafness, SNP array and common single-gene disorders (thalassemia, progressive muscular dystrophy, albinism, spinal muscular atrophy, etc.), whole-exon sequencing for the diagnosis of genopathy and other examination items are carried out our this center. Our center is one of the first batch of 109 pilot units approved by the National Health and Family Planning Commission of China for prenatal screening and diagnosis of free fetal DNA in maternal peripheral blood and now has provided testing services for tens of thousands of pregnant women.

The prenatal screening and diagnosis project carried out by our center ranks the second following only the Prenatal Diagnosis Center of Women’s Hospital School of Medicine Zhejiang University. Our center is earlier in the province to introduce prenatal diagnosis technologies like chorionic villus sampling (CVS) and also the one that has accepted the most such cases. Besides, our center has established close ties and carried out in-depth research cooperation with the Institute of Translational Medicine of Zhejiang University, Be Creative Lab (Beijing) Co., Ltd., CapitalBio Corporation, Berry Genomics Co., Ltd. and other research academies and high-tech companies.
